Ubisoft cancels The Division Heartland

Ubisoft are “redeploying resources” to seek “bigger opportunities” – The Division Heartland is no more

Hot on the heels of Ubisoft’s reveal of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the company has confirmed that they have ended The Division Heartland’s development. The Tom Clancy’s Division Heartland was revealed back in E3 2021. The game is a free-to-play shooter from Red Storm Entertainment.

Before now, Heartland has gone through several rounds of playtesting and is in a publicly playable state. At times, it looked like the game would soon be ready to launch, but that launch never materialised. Now, we know that the game will never release.

Ubisoft will now be using the talents of Red Storm Entertainment to work new projects for the company. This will include work on titles like XDefiant and Rainbow Six.

Below is a statement that Ubisoft has made about the cancellation to IGN.

After careful consideration, we have made the tough call to halt development on Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland, effective immediately. Our priority now is to support the talented team members at our Red Storm Entertainment studio, who will be transitioning to new projects within our company, including XDefiant and Rainbow Six.

Recently, Ubisoft has cancelled a lot of projects. Last year, the company cancelled three unannounced games. These cancelled projects included Immortals: Fenix Rising 2. Right now, Ubisoft appears to be focusing on larger projects at the expense of smaller ones.
